How To Identify The Quality Of Woven Interlining?

Aug 24, 2024

1. Appearance observation
1) Flatness
The surface of high-quality woven interlinings is flat, without obvious defects, holes, wrinkles, loose threads, etc. The interlining can be laid flat on a smooth surface to observe whether it can stretch naturally without curling, undulations, etc.
Gently stroke the surface of the interlining with your hand to feel its flatness. There should be no roughness or unevenness.
The surface of high-quality woven interlinings should be uniform without obvious color difference.

2) Weave inspection
Carefully observe whether the weave of the fabric is regular and tight. Generally, the interlining with uniform and clear weave and neatly arranged yarns is of good quality.

3) Hand feel inspection
Touch it with your hand to feel its softness and stiffness. High-quality woven interlinings have a moderate feel, neither too soft to lack support nor too hard to affect comfort.
Thickness and weight detection
Under the same size, compare the thickness and weight of different interlinings. Generally, the interlining with uniform thickness and moderate weight is of good quality, but the appropriate thickness and weight should also be selected according to the specific use.

4) Tensile strength test
Pull the interlining gently to see if it is easy to deform or tear. If it can quickly return to its original shape after stretching and is not easy to break, it indicates that the tensile strength is high and the quality is good.

5) Shrinkage rate test
You can soak a small piece of interlining in water to observe its shrinkage. The woven interlining with low shrinkage rate is of good quality.

2.. Understand the raw materials
Ask or check the raw materials used for the interlining, such as the quality and type of yarn. Interlining made of high-quality yarn is usually of better quality.
1) Coating quality test (if there is a coating)
If there is a coating, check whether the coating is uniform and firm, without shedding or bubbling.

2) Smell
High-quality woven interlining should not have a pungent chemical smell.

3) Refer to the reputation of the brand and manufacturer
Choose woven interlining produced by well-known brands and reputable manufacturers. Generally, the quality is more reliable.
